![]() ![]() Starr provided primary funding for CCFB with a Library Services and Technology Act grant. In 2000, under the guidance of California State Librarian Kevin Starr, CCFB was reborn as part of the Department of Information Studies at UCLA creating dynamic literature-based programs and relying on a network of public library partners throughout the state. ![]() Since then, the Center has been housed at various organizations. In 1987, the California Center for the Book was established at the California State Library. Programs include a diverse range of events, series, lectures, partnerships, prizes, contests and awards. Established in 1987, it is the designated California affiliate of The Center for the Book at the Library of Congress and part of a network of Centers for the Book across the country. The mission of the California Center for the Book at the California State Library is to highlight the state’s literary heritage and call attention to the importance of books, reading, literacy and libraries.
